ISL 2016: I hope for an exciting match tomorrow, says Delhi Dynamos FC coach, Gianluca Zambrotta

Zambrotta hopes his side can overcome Mumbai City and move to the top spot

Mumbai City FC coach, Alexandre Guimaraes said his side is determined to finish the league stage as table toppers. The Costa Rican will be fielding a full-strength squad against Delhi Dynamos FC in tomorrow’s Indian Super League match up.

His counterpart, Zambrotta said that his side is equally keen on ending the round robin stage on a high note. “Of course we will try to win tomorrow and be the first on the table. But the opponents are thinking the same way. We have to consider our situation with the players on yellow cards. I usually chose the players on the day of the match,” he said.

Delhi suffered just their third defeat of the season against NorthEast United a couple of days back and the coach rued the fact that his team failed to display any kind of resolve.

“Unfortunately, against NorthEast, our intensity was very low. I didn’t like the first half and the team reaction was bad. We have to run more and defend together in the next match and in the semi-finals, this is the attitude I want from the team,” the Italian stated.

The away side come into tomorrow’s match having scored on an average, 2 goals per game, and all eyes will be on Marcelinho who has contributed 9 of the 27 goals that the Dynamos have scored this season.

Asked if tomorrow’s game will be a matchup between Delhi’s attack and Mumbai’s defence, Zambrotta said, “Each match has a different history. We hope tomorrow will be a very exciting match. If we play like we know, it will be a good match.”

The Italian revealed that he hasn’t spoken to any of his previous coaches, including Marcello Lippi for tips on dealing with pressure situations.

“I am not in contact with any of my coaches. I only use videos and watch them and I am very happy. At the moment, I haven’t had any contact with them,” he said.

Speaking about the performance of the Indian players in his squad, the coach said,”I don’t want to speak about anyone specifically but I am very happy with them and the quality they have shown. They always want to learn and that’s a very good attitude to have,” Zambrotta concluded.

Both sides are separated by just two points and a win for Delhi will help them edge past Mumbai City to the top of the points table.
