'I know nothing of Real Madrid interest' - Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez

Having been brought back down to earth with a bump by their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal yesterday, Liverpool fans have been handed some good news as Luis Suarez played down talk of a potential impending move to Real Madrid.

Talking to Uruguayan radio (as he always seems to), Suarez insisted he did not know of any interest from Real,  and moved to talk about an exciting future for the current Liverpool side.

When asked what he knew about interest from Spain by Sport890, Suarez replied; “Absolutely nothing at all.”

He moved on to talk about Liverpool, commenting that, “In the team we are all really excited, looking forward and looking forward to a good season.

“The Premier League is the best league there is. The stadiums, the atmosphere and the fans make football here so entertaining.”

Suarez’s manager Brendan Rodgers backed up the striker’s comments, insisting that Liverpool could match the Uruguayan’s ambition.

“I think he, like ourselves, wants to be at the very highest level he can be.

“And you can see by his performances he deserves to be looking at that level

“But it also shows he has been excellent in his attitude, you see his work rate – that is the key.”

“For me, this is the place for Luis. I still maintain that even if we were in mid-table this would be the place for him to be because this is a massive club – a global institution.”

“But as a football club and as a team we are growing – and he can grow with us. Luis has the support of everyone at the club and the love of everyone and because this is a worldwide institution, there is no better place for him to grow.”

Since his return from suspension in September, Suarez has taken more shots on goal than any other player in the Premier League
