"I know the squad will do everything they can so I can call myself a European champion" - Pedri makes heart-warming claim before Euro 2024 final

Spain international midfielder Pedri has said he is confident that his La Roja teammates will win Euro 2024 in his absence. The Barcelona midfielder was injured in the quarterfinals against Germany and ruled out of the rest of the tournament but believes the team has what it takes to press on to glory.

The 2021 European Golden Boy Award winner was a crucial part of the Spanish effort at the tournament before his injury, playing four games and providing an assist. Despite being only 21, he has amassed 24 caps for his country, scoring two and assisting two goals to establish himself as a key part of the national team.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Euro 2024 final, the Blaugrana midfielder aid (via Barca Universal):

“I know that the squad will do everything they can so I can call myself a European champion,”

Pedri hopes to be named a European Championship winner tomorrow in Berlin when Spain faces England at the Olympiastadion. Though have possibly been the best team in the tournament so far, they will hope to avoid a heartbreak in the final and claim their fourth European Championships tomorrow.


Pedri discusses injury at Euro 2024

Spain's midfielder Pedri has talked about the reality of getting injured at Euro 2024 for his country. The Barcelona midfielder had to be taken off after a collision with Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos in the quarterfinals that saw his participation in the tournament end.

The Blaugrana midfielder revealed the details of his injury, saying (via Barca Universal)

"In football, injuries and accidents like these happen often. It’s a fast game, so when I fall and feel something wrong with my knee, it’s not surprising. These things happen in football"
"When the injury happened, I wanted to stay on the bench, but they told me to go to the tunnel to see how I was doing and to do some tests with the doctor. I didn’t want to go because I wanted to support my team"
"The first days of the injury were the worst, when you can barely walk, you feel a lot of pain, and you think about a lot of things like why this always happens to you. It was a strong blow on my leg and not much can be done to improve it, but you always try to look for the positive side that will help you improve.”

La Roja take on the Three Lions in the final of 2024 where they hope to regain the European crown a dozen years after their last win in Berlin.
