I-League 2017: Minerva Punjab vs Mohun Bagan - Player Ratings
Minerva Punjab scraped a hard-fought draw against Mohun Bagan with a last-minute equaliser from Moinuddin in the I-League opener. It was a game of two halves, as the Mariners dominated in the first half, while the Minerva came back strongly in the second.
In the end, both the teams shared the spoils, with Minerva arguably coming off as the happier of the lot. Here, we rate the players who took part in this game.
Minerva Punjab
Arshdeep Singh (7.5): The young goalkeeper was good between the sticks as he made a couple of brilliant saves to deny Mohun Bagan from going ahead in the second half. He could have done better to prevent the Norde goal, though.
Sukhdev (7): The captain was average at the back as he was not able to mark his man properly in several instances.
Toshiya (5): The Japanese Midfielder was not up to the mark and was subbed off early in the second half.
Chencho (8): Bhutanese star Chencho lived up to the fans expectations as he cut through the Bagan defence on several occasions.
Gagandeep (7): The forward was average and was not able to penetrate the Bagan defence.
Khosla (6): He caused trouble to the Bagan defence on several occasions throughout the match, but his actions were hardly of any benefit for Minerva.
Kassim (7): Kassim had created several chances and exposed the Bagan defence with some brilliant runs.
Eric Dano (6): Eric played the defensive role very well, but was often guilty of letting go of possession.
Deepak (6): The youngster was not up to the mark as his runs were cut off by the Bagan defence.
Ambekar (5.5): The guy from Mumbai attempted several runs on the right flank and crossed wayward balls into the box.
Opoku (7): He caused intense trouble to Bagan on several occasions in the second half and finally his ball fell through to Moinuddin for the late equaliser.
Substitutes
Moinuddin (9): The main man for the home side. Scored the equaliser within minutes of coming off.
Lago (7.5): Came up in the second half and was instrumental in the team's several chances in the second half.
