I-League 2017: Mohun Bagan vs Churchill Brothers, Player Ratings

Mohun Bagan played Churchill in their second home game of the season. Churchill, who were playing just their second match of the season wanted to get at least a point from the game. The match was played under rain and the field was heavy with the ball skidding of the surface, which made it hard for players to play swift attacking football.

The match started with both the teams getting a few half chances in the first few minute of the game. Mohun Bagan finally broke the deadlock on the 23rd minute, and from then on the Green and Maroon brigade didn’t look back.

The second half started with Mohun Bagan extending their lead to 3 almost immediately, and within 50 minutes Bagan extended their lead to 4-0. Eventually, Sanjoy Sen's men romped home to a 5-0.

Shilton Paul (6.5): Shilton didn’t have much to do. He was called upon just a couple of times to make some regular saves but his positioning sometimes was a matter of concern for the Bagan defence as he was nearly beaten by the 40-yard loop from Meitei in the first half.

Kinshuk Debnath (7): Kinshuk had a regular game and was good in keeping the likes of Uttam Rai and Obinna at bay.

Kingsley (7.5): Kingsley looked solid at the back. He made some crucial tackles and helped Bagan win a lot of second balls and build attacks from the back.

Arijit Bagui (6.5): Arijit had a good game before limping off with a hamstring injury. He looked to venture forward often and help SK Faiaz in attack.

Ricky (7): Ricky had another good game at left back for Bagan. He was beaten by the Churchill wingers just a few times but always did well to counter his steps and stop the crosses from being played into the box.

Shilton d’Silva (7.5): Despite not starting the game, Shilton was brought on within the first 10 minutes to replace the injured Yuta Kinowaki. Shilton took a few minutes to get into the game but after he had his feet sorted he looked excellent.

Raynier Fernandes (7): Raynier had another good game for Mohun Bagan. His distribution and the way he helped out his defence was really good to see.

Sk. Faiaz (7.5): Sk. Faiaz had a great game for Mohun Bagan, not only did he score his first I-League goal, but also had an excellent game on the right wing for Bagan. He surely has got himself into the gaffer's good books.

Sony Norde (8): Norde had another impressive game for Bagan. He controlled the game well and cut in with precision. He also scored a great goal.

Kromah (7.5): Opened the scoring for Bagan. He finally came through for the Green and Maroons in the I-League. He also played some impressive passes and was crucial in the build-up of some good moves.

Dicka (8): Scored a brace and looked lively. However, he could have scored more, given the way he squandered a few of the chances.
