I-League 2nd Division : Mohammedan and Langsning encounter ends in a stalemate

Mohammedan Sporting Club were held to a goalless draw by Shillong based Langsning FC, in the I-League 2nd Division, in the Barasat Stadium, on Monday.

Mohammedan Starting XI: Anyichie Celestine, Arijeet Singh, Tirthankar Sarkar, Dipendu Dowary, Fikru Teferra, Jiten Murmu (C), Ainish Zamadar, Rahul Jaiswal, Ankit Mukherjee, Prohlad Roy, Subham Roy (GK)

Langsning Starting XI: Brolington Warlarpih (C), Dibinroy Nongspung, Fullmoon, Ebormi Buam, Milancy Khongstia, Lancine Toure, Ronaldkydon, Kitboklang Pale, Stephanson Pale, Reston Khriam, Surjay Pariyar (GK)

Mohammedan SC started the game on a positive and aggressive note. The 'Black Panthers' had several chances to take the lead early in the first half but, were denied on several occasions by the Langsning shot-stopper, Surjay Kumar Pariyar.

Mohammedan came agonizingly close to scoring through Fikru Teferra and Jiten Murmu, but Pariyar was up to the task.

Langsning slowly grew into the game, and missed the target by a whisker, following a powerful shot from Fullmoon Mukhim.

It was Mohammedan all the way in the second half, as well as the absence of Langsning Japanese midfielder Ryoga Katsurahima, was clearly evident.

Mohammedan committed several men ahead in order to take the lead, but the Shillong based side absorbed all the pressure throughout the ninety minutes to secure one point.

Langsning now have 8 points from five games, while Mohammedan have 7 points from four games.

Both the teams play their next game again against each other, in the return fixture on 13th April in Shillong.
