I-League 2nd Half Table: Leaders Bengaluru are seventh but East Bengal second

Sportskeeda has compiled another alternative Airtel I-League table based on the second half scores of each side. This table reveals that if matches started at half-time current league leaders Bengaluru FC would be placed as low as seventh while eight placed United SC would be top.

You can find the article for the table based on first half scores here.

The other big beneficiary from this table would be East Bengal, who have won the second half in seven of their eleven games and thus are second. The red-and-gold brigade have four games in hand over United SC so if they can improve their first half form, Armando Colaco’s side should win the title comfortably.

Team Played Won Drawn Lost GF GA GD Points
United SC 15 6 7 2 13 8 +5 25
East Bengal 11 7 2 2 12 5 +7 23
Shillong Lajong 15 6 5 4 9 11 -2 23
Sporting Clube 14 5 6 3 13 7 +6 21

Mumbai FC 14 4 5 5 9 10 -1 17
Pune FC 14 4 5 5 9 11 -2 17
Dempo 15 3 7 5 8 11 -3 16
Rangdajied United 14 3 4 7 6 9 -3 13
Churchill Brothers 13 2 6 5 7 12 -5 12
Mohammedan Sporting 13 2 6 5 5 11 -6 12

Note: The 3-0 wins that were awarded to Pune FC and Bengaluru FC in their matches against Salgaocar, who were penalised for fielding unregistered players, have not been taken into account. Instead the actual scorelines of those two fixtures have been considered.

East Bengal’s arch-rivals Mohun Bagan have also fared much better in the second half as they would have three points more but like Bengaluru, third placed Pune also have had problems after the interval as they are ninth as per this table with just four wins in 14. However Shillong Lajong and Sporting Clube would remain in the top five even as per their second half form.
