I-League defers its core-committee meet

The I-League core committee meet has been postponed to a later date in light of the recent appeal by the Bagan outfit to review the ban imposed on them.

The I-League core committee meet which was slated to be held on 9th January, 2013 is now indefinitely deferred following the appeal of the Kolkatan giants Mohun Bagan to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Executive Committee on Monday to review their suspension after being found guilty of breaching regulation 22 of the I-League.

“Normally, a review tends to defer these kind of meetings. Besides, on our part, we had made ourselves very clear and had categorically mentioned all the relevant points to serve our purpose,” said a Bagan official to The Telegraph.

Mohun Bagan are expected to put forth their case at the Core Committee meet with regards to amount of compensation, extension of the suspension, and additional sanctions and fines, if any.

The rescheduled date of the meet is expected to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata club maintains their stance on the fact that they are yet to receive anything in writing from the AIFF regarding the issue of their star striker and Captain Odoafa Okolie being issued a showcause notice.

Earlier, on 9th December in the heated Derby, the Nigerian was reprimanded for misbehaviour with referee Vishnu Chauhan, which led to his marching orders in addition to inciting the crowd, that had resulted in a lathi charge by the police and the game not stretching beyond the half point, with Bagan refusing to take the field.

“We are yet to receive anything in writing as far as the showcause is concerned. We are keeping a track on everything and will act in due course of time,” the Bagan official said.
