I-League: Dempo SC and Mohun Bagan play out grab draw

In a match of former champions, Dempo SC and Mohun Bagan AC played out a goalless draw in the I-League at the Duler ground in Mapusa on Friday afternoon.

With the point Dempo SC moved to seven points from seven matches, while Mohun Bagan now have nine points from the same number of games with both teams missing the chance to move further up the table.

Dempo looked to be the better of the two sides initially but their only real chance was a header from Peter Carvalho which was cleared by Mariners captain and goalkeeper Shilton Pal. At the other end an Eric Muranda half-volley was cleared by Dempo keeper Subhashis Roy Chowdhury. Both team continued to equal each other out though there were chances at both ends through Dempo striker Billy Mehmet or Mohun Bagan midfielder Katsumi Yusa, but it remained goalless at the break.

Things didn’t change much after the breather though Dempo continued to have more of the ball, but they simply couldn’t break down the Mohun Bagan defence and it ended goalless between the two sides.
