I-League: East Bengal restart their campaign against an inform Churchill Brothers!

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club restart their I-League campaign after the disappointments of the Federation Cup and IFA Shield against an inform Churchill Brothers, who recently won the Fed Cup and have beaten Rangdajied United in the I-League last week.

East Bengal want to find their form again as they have played four matches less than league leaders Bengaluru FC and are 12 points behind them, so winning all these game could put them on level terms as they want to claim the elusive I-League title. But Churchill Brothers won’t be an easy opponent.

East Bengal assistant coach Ranjan Choudhuri said ahead of the match, “We are fully aware of the recent improvement of our opponents and there is no question of taking them lightly. We will be missing Uga Okpara and Raju Gaikwad but we have adequate bench strength to make up for their absence. The boys practised hard today and will strive hard to get full points tomorrow.”

At the other end Churchill Brothers are on a high and want to upset the red-and-golds.

Meanwhile former East Bengal coach and now Churchill Brothers technical director Subhas Bhowmick said, “East Bengal is among the top teams of the country and is there is no question of underestimating them. They have a good reserve bench and will also enjoy home advantage.”

“We will try to give our best and garner maximum points in the match. Although Churchill Brothers were not doing well in the first half of the League but they utilised the break to work on the players fitness which have revived the team and they will be at full strength tomorrow,” Bhowmick said.

Subhas Bhowmick further made a compliment about his former club, “I came to this club after a quite some time and I must say I am indeed impressed by the present infrastructure.”

The match will be played at the Saltlake Stadium, will kick-off at 6pm and will be shown live on TenAction!
