I-League: Mumbai FC look for revenge as they host Aizawl FC

Joel Sunday scored on his debut against Mumbai FC

Mumbai FC will take on Aizawl FC in an I-League football match at the Cooperage Ground in Mumbai on Wednesday. Debutant Joel Sunday Ayeni and H. Lalmuankima found the net in the second half to ensure the full three points for Aizawl in the first meeting between the side earlier in the season.

Mumbai are currently in the sixth spot with ten points from nine games, having won two, drawn four and lost three, while Aizawl are one place behind in seventh spot with eight points from nine games, with two wins, two draws and five losses.

The hosts come into the match after 2-2 draw against Sporting Clube de Goa, on the other hand, Aizawl went down 0-1 to Bengaluru FC. Mumbai will hope to gather full three points and climb the points table.

Mumbai can be a force to reckon with if they are given space up front. Arata Izumi, Jayesh Rane have pace and the skills needed to outfox rival defenders and score. However, Mumbai defence, which includes Michol Son and others, will have their task cut out to stop the Aizawl attack on Wednesday.

Aizawl will also be determined to go all out for a win which would lift them in the table. The visitors' work rate and pace have been fantastic in the league so far, but they have failed to capitalise on their opportunities.

Aizawl coach Manuel Fraile and his men would know Mumbai may be a good side but defensively they have been loose on occasions. Fraile would precisely want to exploit the weakness and would look to strike the hosts on the counters.
