Sporting Clube de Goa will take on arch-rivals Salgaocar FC in an I-League match at the Fatorda Stadium here on Thursday.

Home side Goa are currently in sixth place with seven points from five games, having won two, drawn one and lost two, while Salgaocar are at the bottom of the table with just one point from five games, having lost four and drawn one.

Both teams have excellent strikers and it will be a test for both defences.

Sporting's Nigerian striker Odafa Okolie has already made his mark in the league and the season and he would relish the opportunity of having a go at the Salgaocar defence. It would not be surprising if he pulls off something extraordinary on Thursday.

Salgaocar would ideally want to grab all three points from their encounter, but Sporting Clube de Goa are a team who are good on the counters and might surprise the rival defence with pace.

"Our players have displayed good character on the field. I have received good support upfront and it happens in every department. We support each other throughout and that helps in achieving the team goal," Clube captain Okolie said.

Salgaocar coach Santosh Kashyap said: "The right attitude is what matters, I have asked the players to keep a positive attitude and rest will follow."
