“I miss the Champions League”: Newcastle striker Loic Remy hints at exit

Newcastle’s on loan QPR striker Loic Remy has admitted that he doesn’t know what his future holds, but conceded that he misses playing in the Champions League. The Metro reports that Remy could leave if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League, but Toon boss Alan Pardew told Absolute Radio that a move away would be a mistake.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know. At the moment I don’t know. The president of QPR may want to keep me next season,” said Remy when questioned on his future.

“I miss the Champions League. It is a very special competition. Next season I can play the Champions League again.”

“We will see what happens, if I stay here or if we play in the Champions League.”

However, Pardew insisted that the striker should stay at the club beyond the expiration of his season long loan deal, pointing to previous departures as evidence of his point.

“He has been terrific, he is a lovely young boy”, opened Pardew.

“I think he has got great technical ability, and he is going to have a great career in the Premier League for sure.”

“And hopefully with us, we feel we can sign him, we have the finance to do that, but of course probably at the end of the year, Loic and his agent and his representatives will decide where his future is.”

“50,000 Geordies, there is not a lot of clubs who can beat that. That’s what I say to my players. They think the grass is greener, and we have lost some good players in this football club.

“Joey Barton moved on, Andy Carroll, and actually you have to argue, have they moved onto better clubs?

“Because when they were here they were absolutely terrific for us, and I think sometimes the grass isn’t always greener as we know.”

Remy scored seven goals in his first nine appearances this season, but has only scored three in the eight matches since then.
