I would have liked to change the referee says Marco Materazzi

Marco Materazzi opined that his side were robbed of a penalty by the referee

Atletico de Kolkata won just their second game at home this season after beating bottom placed Chennaiyin FC 2-1. Chennaiyin FC took the lead through Raphael Augusto in the 27th minute of the game, but Sameegh Doutie leveled it up for the home side just before the break, while a second half strike from Iain Hume capped off a remarkable comeback for the defending champions.

Speaking in the post-match press conference Antonio Habas said he was happy to see his side get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw against Delhi Dynamos in the last game, but also maintained his team needed to now focus on the next game against FC Goa, who beat Mumbai City FC 7-0 in their last game.

Habas: "I don't want to talk about being favourites. Our next opponents are FC Goa and we have to recover immediately. It's about going step by step," Habas said after their win.

"It's a very important win for us. I am very happy with my team. We are more confident for the remaining games now.”

I'm not a magic coach, I'm just a normal human being. We have to plan as we have a difficult match ahead."

It will be difficult to qualify, will try till the end: Materazzi

On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC boss Marco Materazzi complained about the refereeing decisions in the game and believes his side were robbed off a penalty. Chennaiyin had a penalty appeal turned down in the 78th minute after Rino Anto seemed to have brought down Raphael Augusto inside the penalty box.

Materazzi : "The pitch was perfect but there's one person (referee) I would have liked to change today."

"I really have nothing to complain about my players. We did shoot two or three times and we kept on trying. Maybe there was some penalty that was not given for us.”

Chennaiyin FC are now at the bottom of the table, and face a daunting task of qualifying for the play-offs. When asked about his team’s chances of qualifying for the play-offs Marco Materazzi admitted it’s difficult from here, but his team will keep trying till the end.

Materazzi said: "It feels as if you have been making fun of us. It would be difficult after this game but as a matter of respect to the club, we'll try until the end."
