Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway chose not to comment on the penalty which Manchester United converted into a goal before half time as he did not want to seem ‘rude’. The Daily Mail reports.

Crystal Palace succumbed to a 2-o defeat at the hands of Manchester Untied with goals coming from strikers Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

The 50-year-old, who has been at the receiving end of a two-match touchline ban for previous comments of officials, confessed that referees had a “difficult job.”

But when asked for his opinion on the incident involving Young, he told BT Sport: ‘I would be rude. I literally cannot afford it.’

Holloway was penalized with a fine of £18,000 after he criticized the officials in the opening 1-0 loss to Tottenham.

‘My opinion does not count,’ said Holloway. ‘It does not count because the result is the result and I have just got to deal with it I’m afraid.

Holloway heaped praise on Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney who played a brilliant game against Palace.

‘I am really proud of them,’ he said. ‘For long periods I was absolutely delighted.’

United boss David Moyes said: ‘I think we played well. I was pleased.’

The Scot was thrilled that Rooney played the entire match in spite of just recovering from a head injury.
