Indian Super Cup 2018: After Jamshedpur FC, ATK show interest in Kerala Blasters' CK Vineeth
After a disappointing end to the ISL season, Kerala Blasters forward C.K. Vineeth seems to be attracting some interest from two-time champions ATK. The Kolkata-based outfit is looking to sign the veteran midfielder to bolster their ranks ahead of the 2018-19 Indian Super League.
Coming off the back of a disappointing season that saw them win just 4 out of their 18 games and eventually finishing second from bottom in the league, ATK will be looking to add fresh blood to their lineup.
They are now said to have identified Vineeth as a suitable target, who will bring to the club a mixture of energy in midfield and much-needed experience.
Vineeth added four goals from the wings and was the second highest scorer for the Blasters and joint fourth highest Indian scorer in the league, Sportskeeda has learnt.
Vineeth was also rumoured to be in talks with Jamshedpur FC for their second season in the league. Jamshedpur faired slightly better in their ordeal than ATK, finishing fifth and accumulating seven wins in the process.
Both ATK and Jamshedpur faced issues with scoring this season and the addition of Vineeth could give some much-needed firepower to their attack.
After making his debut in 2011 for Chirag United Kerala, Vineeth was quickly captured by Prayag United and later on Bengaluru F.C. due to his performances. Vineeth is also a full Indian international after making his international debut in 2013 and has represented the country several times.
The 29-year old Keralite has tons of experience playing in the league. After initially joining on loan from Bengaluru, Vineeth has represented Kerala in all four seasons of the ISL. However, as it turns out, Vineeth might be seen in new colours for the fifth edition.
