Kerala Blasters may be in for a big overhaul ahead of the upcoming season, with their much-loved captain Sandesh Jhingan being linked with a move away to rival club ATK.

Jhingan, who is one of the crowd favourites in Kochi, is said to attracted interest from the two-time ISL champins, who are looking to strengthen their backline for the upcoming season.

The Kolkata-based club has had its worst season in the ISL so far, as they finished second from bottom in the league. Additionally, they shipped as many as 30 goals from 18 matches in the league. The only team that had conceded more goals was Delhi Dynamos -- 37.

Now, with former Tottenham Hotspur and ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Keane at the helm of affairs, ATK are looking to strengthen their defence with the signing of a quality centreback. One name that has already been on wanted list is Henrique Sereno.

However, a move for the Chennaiyin FC captain may not fall through, which is why the Kolkata club is eyeing a move for Jhingan, Sportskeeda has learnt.

Jhingn, on the other hand, has had a poor season with Kerala Blasters, who failed to make it to the top four spots in the ISL, something that would have given them a spot in the semifinals.

While a top six finish did give Kerala Blasters direct entry into the Super Cup Round of 16 stage, they were knocked out by I-League debutants NEROCA FC, who came back from two goals down, to beat the Kochi-based side 3-2 in regulation time.

Jhingan had to be taken off during this match, as he had suffered an injury. He was replaced by fullback Rino Anto, who could not perform the duties of a centreback properly, as the Blasters went on to concede three against Neroca.
