Inter Milan Transfer News: Moratti confirms club's interest in Udinese winger

Alexis Sanchez: the next big thing?

Internazionale president, Massimo Moratti, has confirmed that the club is in contact with Udinese to sign Chile winger Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

Sanchez, who scored 12 goals in 31 league appearances this season is a target of many big European clubs including cash rich Manchester City and their neighbors Manchester United.

Moratti said on Inter’s official website,

“I consider Sánchez to be a very good player. It’s no mystery that we are talking with Udinese to understand the situation.”

Udinese President Giampaolo Pozzo earlier said that the club had rejected a 35m euros offer from an unnamed club. Pozzo said,

“As far as I am concerned, Sanchez is worth as much as Leo Messi,  but admittedly I’m not objective. He’s one of only two or three players born in every generation. We have received an offer of €35m that we rejected. I do not want to name the club, out of respect.”

However, Moratti believes the value set on Sánchez, who is under contract with Udinese until June 2014, is disproportionate.

“One thing that is certain is that the player still has a lot to prove. When [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo arrived at Inter they had already achieved a lot in their careers. The value [given to Sánchez] is based on players that have won everything and to me this seems an exaggeration of the current market.”

Inter are currently trying to sign younger players to rejuvenate their aging squad. The club has been linked with Lille winger Eden Hazard and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez as well.
