Inter president clarifies transfer rumors

Sneijder to stay at Inter?

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has cleared the air surrounding the possible transfer of a few of club’s players, adding that the club is determined to keep their main play-maker Wesley Sneijder.

Three players: Sneijder, Lucio and Forlan have been tipped to leave the club this summer following Inter’s failure to qualify for UEFA Champions League next season. Speaking on a radio show, Moratti said:

“We consider him a main player for Inter’s future. So there aren’t problems.

“Lucio? He has recently told us that he’s uncertain so we’ll see whether it might be better for him to move on.

“Diego Forlan? Lots of players are happy to remain at Inter, but we’ll have to see if that happens or if it’s better for them to go and play elsewhere.”

Inter have been strongly linked with a move for Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi. The 27-year-old Argentine striker scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 41 appearances for the Azzurris last season. However, Moratti refused to comment on this situation and added:

“I don’t know yet, because we have spoken about the huge focus on financial fair play. We are moving in a good way, anyway, and we will do, one way or another, something that will be liked by supporters.

“Lavezzi? For the moment what I think is that this transfer, if it is comes about, will be done very calmly and with due attention paid to the economics of the deal.”

Meanwhile, Inter have also been linked with Manchester City‘s Nigel De Jong and FC Porto’s Guarin.
