Inter takeover likely to go ahead, says Massimo Moratti

Massimo Moratti

Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has said the sale of the club is likely to go ahead despite not having a definitive agreement with Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, who is the proposed buyer.

“There are no major problems to reach an eventual agreement,” Moratti said.

Amidst the rumours of a preliminary deal with Thohir, Moratti said that no such incident took place and said that the takeover worth €350 million has been going on for a few months.

A report in Reuters suggested that Moratti is unlikely to remain as the chairman of the club after the takeover. Inter Milan currently has a debt of €300 million and Moratti previously indicated that he would not sell a majority shareholding in the club.

Thohir is an active share holder in the sporting universe with shares in Major League Soccer side DC United and NBA side Philadelphia 76ers.
