Interview with Oscar Bruzon: "Anelka is our leader and inspiration"

Mumbai City FC’s season so far has resembled the proverbial sine curve. From losing way early to listing back to back wins and then again losing 1-5 to defending champions Atletico de Madrid in their latest fixture, the Ranbir Kapoor owned franchisee have swayed from being outstanding to pretty patchy on occasions.

Travelling to Delhi for their next fixture against the Dynamos, Mumbai’s assistant coach Oscar Bruzon talked to the media about the team’s performances so far and how they intend to work cohesively going forward.

Excerpts:

Last game didn’t work out. Are you approaching the next one vs Delhi differently?

Oscar- We have identified the mistakes of the last game and we are ready to fight hard and win this game

How did Nicolas and you analyse his performance as a player vs Atletico de Kolkata?

There was a lot of noise about Nicolas playing and managing. We are united. All the decisions he is taking is right. Nicolas is our leader, our inspiration. He is the best player in the ISL. I’m the assistant coach. I can’t analyse his performance. His success is enough for the time. I don’t want speculation or noise. All of us are together supporting Nicolas’s decision. And he will demonstrate that on the pitch.

Delhi have come back since the defeat to you. What do you think of their performances in the past few games.

We were a little overconfident in the last match. One game is one battle. The next battle is tomorrow and we are focused on winning that.

How do you see Norde’s performances? How much added responsibility does he have in the next games?

We will miss him. He has been very important to us and in fact has been one of our best performers. For example analyse the success of Sunil in terms of conversion. Many of the goals are coming due to Sony.

Do you think Delhi will alter their strategy coming in to this fixture?

They will make changes in the line-up. I am sure they will do that.

From our side though, you can expect a fighting and compact team. We will be ready to take the three points.

Are we going to see Christian Burzon in the first team tomorrow? He has been the best passer.

Most probably. He is important. He will most probably be there tomorrow to help the team

An injury concerns?

Gabriel has a muscle issue and thus might not feature.
