ISL 2016: Chennaiyin FC 2-0 FC Goa - Player Ratings

Chennaiyin's captain on the night got himself a goal, which is a collector's item

Chennaiyin FC got their ISL campaign back on track with a 2-0 home win against FC Goa. Hans Mulder's opener was followed by a deflected strike from Mehrajuddin Wadoo as Chennaiyin took a two-goal lead into half-time.

Here's how each player fared.

Chennaiyin FC

Karanjit Singh - 6/10

He had a jittery start to the game but grew in confidence as the game wore on. Ultimately, he kept a clean sheet which Duwayne Kerr didn't in both his games.

Mehrajuddin Wadoo - 7/10

Chennaiyin's captain on the night got himself a goal, which is a collector's item. Defensively, he had a mixed game as he made a few good tackles, but gave the ball away cheaply far too often.

Eli Sabia - 8/10

Coming in to replace Bernard Mendy for his ISL debut, the Brazilian did very well. He was very steady and ensured that Chennaiyin could sort their defensive woes from the last game.

John Arne Riise - 8/10

Along with Sabia, the big Norwegian ensured that Reinaldo and Coelho did not have a proper chance at goal.

Jerry Lalrinzuala - 7/10

After being given the vote of confidence over Nallappan Mohanraj, he had an impressive game. Today's game showed that this kid has immense potential and Marco Materazzi will do well to tap and harness the raw talent he possesses.

Manuele Blasi - 7/10

This was what Chennaiyin missed against Delhi in their previous game. He sat in front of the back four and allowed Mulder and Raphael Augusto the freedom to move forward, and the duo did hurt Goa.

Hans Mulder
Mulder was the best player on the pitch

Hans Mulder - 9/10

Mulder was the best player on the pitch. He got forward, picked passes across the pitch and did his defensive duties perfectly. It was an expertly taken goal to put Chennaiyin into the lead. In the second half, with his team protecting their lead, he made a few vital interventions.

Raphael Augusto - 8/10

He ran the show in the first half for Chennaiyin. He showed some silky touches to evade Goa players. He also got himself an assist as he set up Mulder's opener for Chennaiyin.

Baljit Sahni - 6/10

Another industrious performance without any quality on the ball from Baljit. If he adds that end product to his game, he could be a prized asset for Materazzi.

Davide Succi - 7/10

The big Italian had a very good game. He worked his socks off and never gave Dumas and Lucio a moment's peace. He could've got himself a goal in the second half after a great touch to bring Mulder's pass down, but Fulganco and Kattimani just did enough to thwart him.

Jayesh Rane - 6.5/10

He tried hard but like Baljit, the final ball was lacking. He showed some nice pieces of skill but nothing more.

Substitutes

Siam Hanghal - 6/10

He came on to replace Blasi, and performed the same role the Italian did.

Dudu Omagbemi - 5/10

The Nigerian striker came on against his former club and had a couple of openings that were snuffed out by Dumas.

Harmanjot Khabra - N/A

He replaced Raphael with 4 minutes to go.
