ISL 2016: CK Vineeth appeals fans for calm in Kerala

Vineeth has urged Blasters fans to keep calm after last match’s fiasco

India’s new poster boy of football and Kerala Blasters’ striker CK Vineeth has appealed the amazing home fans to maintain calm and not to ‘bringing disrepute to the state or the stadium’. Kerala Blasters have consistently attracted crowd of 50,000 plus for every home games this season.

Be it through social media or their presence at the stadium, the Blasters fans have been the talking point of ISL 2016 across country. From commentators to former football players have praised the support Kerala fans have shown towards their team lead by Steve Coppell.

However, Kerala Blasters’ fantastic win over NorthEast United FC that saw them seal a place in semi-finals was soured by pitch invasion and crowd trouble.

“I’m yet to get exact details on the incident. But if something like that has happened, I want to request everyone to not do these things. The whole world will be watching our games and these are not the right things to do as it brings disrepute to our stadium and fans.

“If you’ve done these things, please don’t in the future and please be nice to everyone. You’ll are the best fans,” said Vineeth, who has scored an amazing five goals and assisted three in the six matches for Kerala Blasters.

It was widely reported that after the final whistle against NorthEast United, few fans jumped over from stands on the pitch. A particular stand saw the wrath of the fans who broke all the chairs and threw them on the pitch before police could bring the situation under control.
