ISL 2016: Kerala Blasters have the advantage thanks to the home crowd, says Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta
After a scintillating performance in their first match of the campaign, the Delhi Dynamos will take on a depleted Kerala Blasters as they look to continue to extend their winning streak. Delhi thrashed the defending champions Chennaiyin FC 3-1 at Chennai, thanks to a brace from ISL debutant Marcelinho and a late header goal from Badara Badji.
The head coach of the Delhi Dynamos, Gianluca Zambrotta was asked during the pre-match conference as to how his players are following his coaching philosophy to which he replied, “I am very happy about how my team is playing. I have been working really hard with them each day and trying to make certain that the players understand my philosophy.”
When asked to provide an update on their defender Anas Edathodika, Zambrotta stated that they are still waiting for the final reports. “This morning Anas was sent to the medical control and we are waiting for a medical response and this afternoon we will be known about his medical situations.”
Questions were asked about whether this is the perfect time for the Dynamos to face the Kerala Blasters as the home side are now on a losing streak, Zambrotta was quick to say that the Blasters have an advantage since they are at home.
“No, they play at home, they are very hungry and they are playing in a stadium with 65,000 supporters so it is a bigger advantage for them. For us it is a very important match, at the moment we have just played and won one game and just to think about nothing happened, just to think about this match and hope for the best.”
The match will be a good test for the Dynamos
To the question on whether Delhi will be planning their attacks through the wings, the former AC Milan star replied, “We travelled a lot in this gap of four days and the whole team is little bit tired so at the moment we need to study the real situation now and tactical about if we move Marcelinho to attack.”
Zambrotta also shared his views about the tactical battle that will take place against the Blasters, “I love to study a lot about the technical side of the opponent team. But of course, Steve is a very interesting match and is very important to train my team in that way. Kerala has a really good team with many good players like Hughes, German and it will be a good test to understand the real strengths of Delhi Dynamos.”
To the question regarding the absence of Malouda from their starting lineup in the last game Zambrotta stated, “He is a very important player for us, he has got a lot of experience and he is the captain of the team about the decision it was no tactical decision, he feel that it was not good to start in the lineup in the last game.”
