With two wins out of two, Mumbai City FC have begun the new ISL season on a positive note. Add to that promising stat, they haven’t even conceded a goal and their coach, Alexandre Guimaraes, said that he is satisfied with how they’ve started this season.

“We are all pleased with this start. It is a total different feeling the fans and the club has. The other teams are watching and know that this is going to be a different season for Mumbai. This is good. We know that we are just starting,” he said.

But the coach warned that his side cannot afford to take the pedal off the gas, considering the hectic schedule of the Indian Super League.

“In this kind of tournament, we have to be very alert because you play every three to four days. There is not much to celebrate or to cry. You have to always be competitive.

Speaking about tomorrow’s game against Atlético de Kolkata, Guimaraes stated that the opposition has an advantage as they’ve retained the core of their team.

“Tomorrow’s game against Kolkata will be tough. They’ve maintained their team and retained their foreigners, especially. So they know each other well. We have to continue to play our game and be aggressive. It is important to continue to get points”, he stated.

Mumbai have been guilty of conceding far too many chances but luckily haven’t been punished for the same, something which the coach is keen on changing.

“We have to improve and not give easy chances to the rivals. In the first two games, we did very well but we gave some chances. If we reduce that margin, it will make us even stronger. We have to improve in the different ways we can attack but it is playing games that help you improve. You have no time to correct the things in practice because there is no chance,” the Mumbai City FC coach explained.

“Last game, the chances that NorthEast United had didn’t come because of their build up. It came from errors that we did while making decisions when we had the ball,” he added.

Guimaraes undecided on his starting XI

Having made no changes to his squad in the first two games, Alexandre said he still hasn’t decided on his first eleven for tomorrow’s game against Kolkata.

“We have a little bit more than 24 hours to have our usual check-up during the evening with the doctors. After lunch tomorrow we will know exactly with whom I can start. This is with Diego Forlan and all other players too. We practiced today and yesterday with the players that didn’t play. But we cannot do a long practice because you have to save energy,” the coach concluded.
