ISL 2016: Top 5 goals in the tournament so far

The Indian Super League has been a breeding ground for promising talent, both from India as well as foreign countries. As such, there has been a plethora of goals scored, which includes headers, long rangers, tap ins, volleys and so on.

Marcelo Leite Pereira of Delhi Dynamos and Emiliano Alfaro of North East United lead the scoring charts with 5 goals each. As the stats show, despite half of the matches played, we haven’t really seen as many goals as compared to the previous years. However, we have seen some truly cracking ones, and here are our pick of the top 5 goals scored in the league so far:

#1 Davide Succi’s volley v North East United FC

North East United and Chennaiyin FC locked horns on the 20th of October, with the southerners having never won an ISL game against the Highlanders. However, that embarrassing statistic was put to rest after the game, as Davide Succi’s exquisite volley was enough to win the game for the Machans.

Having been involved in a spat in the first half, the Italian found himself unmarked on the edge of the box in the 49th minute. The Manipuri midfielder Siam found him with a clever pass, and Succi placed a neat volley from between Gustavo and Zakora. Although the North East goalkeeper Paul did get a hand to it, he could not keep it out from the back of the net.
