ISL 2017/18: Delhi Dynamos director Rohan Sharma lashes out at Kerala Blasters star Mark Sifneos
What's the story?
Delhi Dynamos are in all sorts of trouble at the moment. Languishing at the bottom of the ISL table after just nine matches, an output of four points during that time is not what the doctor ordered for the side from the capital of India.
To make matters worse, their 3-1 defeat at the hands of the struggling Kerala Blasters on Wednesday was marred by controversy.
The half-time whistle took an eternity to blow and as per Delhi Dynamos director Rohan Sharma, who accused some of the Kerala blasters players of using unfair tactics.
In case you didn't know...
The tackle in question was the incredibly hard lunge from Kerala striker Sifneos on Delhi's Spanish goalkeeper Xabi Irureta merely minutes after Delhi had scored the equaliser in the game via Pritam Kotal.
The heart of the matter
The game itself may have struggled to catch the eye but it sprang into life later in the second half when Iain Hume completed his hat-trick with a couple of well-taken goals late on. Delhi, on the other hand, were left licking their wounds.
The tackle by Sifneos led to a total of eight minutes being added on by the referee which not only ruined any momentum Delhi had after their goal but left them in ruins with a possibly injured goalkeeper.
What's next?
It remains to be seen whether any further action will be taken which seems unlikely as the tackle went unnoticed by the officials on the pitch.
Author's take
The ferocity of the challenge cannot be overstated but Delhi should realise that one tackle did not lose them the game. They are not good enough at the moment and could do with some inspiration.
