ISL 2017/18: Ex-Kerala Blasters defender Pratik Chaudhuri signs for Jamshedpur FC
What’s the story?
Former Kerala Blasters defender Pratik Chaudhari has agreed on a deal with Jamshedpur FC, who played their first ISL campaign, in the recently concluded season.
In case you didn’t know…
Pratik has been a regular in the Indian Super League since 2016 when he signed with the Kerala Blasters. He made nine appearances for the Yellows before signing with the Delhi Dynamos in 2017. Chaudhari had also donned the Green and Maroon for Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan in 2014.
The heart of the mater
The 28-year-old defender from Mumbai will be signing with Jamshedpur FC and will be seen flaunting the colours of the club from Jharkhand. After being knocked out from the inaugural season of the Indian Super Cup by FC Goa in a rather dramatic manner, JFC will be determined to bounce back stronger than ever and get back to winning ways.
Jamshedpur FC took to Twitter to announce their latest signing.
“I felt really glad when I was given the opportunity to be a part of Jamshedpur FC and I didn’t have to think twice to say yes to such a balanced side with such a huge fanbase," Pratik said, after signing for Jamshedpur FC. "I have been lucky enough to play under Steve and Wally previously. I have learnt a lot from them and which makes it easy for me to adapt to the system.”
What’s next?
The ex-Mohun Bagan player will be joining the Men of Steel soon enough and under the guidance of coach Steve Coppell, will be working towards moving his new club forward and upward. As JFC finished 5th in their debut season, they will be eyeing to get the glorious trophy in the bag this time around.
Author’s take
Having played for top teams such as Mumbai FC, Kerala Blasters, Mohun Bagan and the Delhi Dynamos, Pratik will bring in a vast skill set and experience along with him to the Jamshedpur FC squad. Coppell will be more than delighted to have a versatile player like Chaudhari, who can take charge on either of the spots on the defence line and give his all to the team.
