The heart of the matter
Kochi-based ISL franchise Kerala Blasters FC has invited youngster Saurav Gopalkrishnan for attending trials as the transfer window business continues at Kerala Blasters.
Saurav Gopalkrishnan is a young, versatile defender who can play anywhere on the defensive line but prefers the centre-back position. Saurav has been playing for the CD Almunecar City senior team from November last year and has made six appearances in which the side has been unbeaten.
Saurav is a lanky and tenacious defender who is good at aerial duels and tackling, which can provide Kerala Blasters good options in the defence, should they decide to sign the youngster. Saurav hails from Kerala and will likely be eager to play for his home state franchise in the Indian Super League.
What's next?
Saurav Gopalkrishnan is scheduled to come back to India on Tuesday and will undergo trials at Kerala Blasters and could be signed before the Indian transfer window closes on February 15.
Author's take
Kerala Blasters FC has been struggling in the defence department and has been hit with injuries to their regulars like Nemanja Lakic Pesic and Rino Anto. Anto has been injured twice this season and his absence has been a cause of concern for the Blasters. David James will have a good option in defence if they decide to sign Saurav Gopalkrishnan as he can play across the defence.
