ISL 2017/18: Kerala Blasters star CK Vineeth writes "nil" in religion column of son's birth certificate
What's the story?
Kerala Blasters star attacker CK Vineeth has won the hearts of one and all by taking a unique step, in which he penned down "nil" beside the "Religion" row, on his newly-born son's birth certificate.
In case you didn't know...
CK Vineeth is one of the most popular players in the Blasters camp, something that is accentuated the fact that he is a local from the state itself. The Kerala Blasters faithful have shown their adulation for him over the course of the four seasons, and Vineeth, in return, has given them some brilliant performances.
The heart of the matter
Vineeth, who has had a son recently, decided not to designate any particular religion for the child. In photos that have gone viral on the internet, the Blasters star is seen signing a birth certificate, where he wrote "nil" beside the "religion" section.
The idea behind this step is that his son would be free to take up whichever religion he wants, when he grows up. The child would also have the freedom to not take up any religion at all.
What's next?
Although Kerala have had a poor season in the ISL, Vineeth has been one of their better players, scoring four goals from the wings. Now, with their ISL campaign over, Vineeth was seen going back to his village, where he did a big of farming during his free time. the Kerala man even posted a video of it as an Instagram story.
Now that he still has some time ahead of the Super Cup, Vineeth would be looking to spend some time with his newly-born kid.
Author's take
This is a welcome move by Vineeth, who has captured the fans' hearts with many such social messages in the past. India is a country where a lot of violence in the name of religion has been reported, and this unique step by Vineeth puts out a strong message with that regard.
