ISL 2017/18, Match 64: FC Goa vs NorthEast United FC, Player Ratings
NorthEast United FC and FC Goa played out a brilliant 2-2 draw at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, as the two sides tried to take a step closer to the playoffs.
The two sides with contrasting fortunes had a surprisingly close match as Marcinho cancelled out a first-half goal by Mandar Rao Desai, while Coro's 53rd-minute strike was yet again cancelled by John Mosquera.
While NorthEast still remain second from bottom with this loss, FC Goa are now one spot below the playoff spots, and need to get back to winning ways, if they want to make the top four.
On that note, let's take a look at how the players performed.
FC Goa
Laxmikant Kattimani (7/10): Kattimani made two brilliant saves in the first half, to deny NEUFC from taking an early lead. He was also brilliant in the second half and helped Goa secure a point from the game.
Jonathan Cardozo (6/10): Cardozo was defensively beaten by Halicharan time and again and the lad's inexperience was on show in the first half. But offensively the lad was brilliant and it was his cross that gave FC Goa the lead in the first, his runs gave the likes of Robert and Halicharan problems aplenty.
Sergio Juste (6.5/10): Juste had a bittersweet game. He made some brilliant blocks and clearances, but was also beaten time and again by the likes of Marcinho. He did look to rectify his mistakes in the second half, though.
Mohamed Ali (6.5/10): Ali was just shade below his self. He had a torrid time in the first half and was merely chasing shadows. The physical presence of Danilo and Marcinho kept troubling the young lad from Goa. He improved a lot in the second half and looked to keep the defence in shape.
Narayan Das (5.5/10): Narayan had a bad day in the office. Seiminlen Doungel went past him with relative ease and kept giving the national team left back a torrid time.
Edu Bedia (7/10): Edu Bedia was the perfect screen for Goa, as he kept a lot of NEUFC attacks at bay. His anticipation and passing was also superb, and also looked to create a few chances for Goa.
Ahmed Jahouh (7/10): Jahouh was a big presence in the midfield, as he had a poor first half, but came out all guns blazing and controlled the game in the second half, it was his blocks and interceptions which were most impressive.
Manvir Singh (5.5/10): Manvir came on as an early sub for Brandon and was quiet throughout the game. He did have a few chances but he failed to utilise them properly.
Manuel Lanzarote (7.5/10): Lanzarote had another good game. His assist for the second the goal was pure class, but his set pieces were left wanting.
Mandar Rao Dessai (7/10): Mandar Rao Dessai had a bittersweet game. He started on the right side and was having problems a plenty he shifted to the left wing and came up with a goal.
Ferran Corominas (7.5/10): Coro had a hot and cold game. He didn’t have many touches of the ball but scored a brilliant goal with a one-touch finish. He also did have some good give-and-goes with Manvir but things didn’t materialise.
