ISL 2017/18: Sachin Tendulkar pays moving tribute to Kerala Blasters fan
What's the story?
As Kerala Blasters look to continue their resurgence in ISL 2017/18, fans of the "Indian Dortmund" were given a special round of support from their owner and legendary cricket icon, Sachin Tendulkar.
The 'Master Blaster', after whom the club is named, took to Twitter to acknowledge a gift presented to him by a Kerala fan that consisted of a letter as well as a Kerala Blasters scarf. Needless to say, Tendulkar was highly appreciative of the same.
In case you didn't know...
Sachin Tendulkar was one of the biggest endorsers of the ISL before the league even took shape in 2014. He bought the South Indian club and has been regularly spotted since at the stadiums where the team plays.
The heart of the matter
Kerala Blasters remain in the sixth position on the ISL table and this might be the lift the team needs to go a step further. Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most respected individuals in the world, a motivational talk from the legend himself could be the catalyst to revitalise the team.
The fans have since then voiced their approval of Tendulkar's message by tweeting in the thousands how they appreciate all that he does for the club. He may not be playing anymore, but one could argue that his contribution to sports in India has perhaps increased since retiring.
What's next?
With the undying support of their owner and the fans, Kerala Blasters resume their ISL campaign with a game against FC Goa on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
Author's take
The relationship between the owner and the fans is always an interesting one, and when it comes to Kerala Blasters, few can argue that it isn't one of the best or perhaps the greatest in ISL.
