ISL 2017: After rift with coach, Sameehg Doutie to stay at Jamshedpur FC?
What's the story?
After a prolonged controversy, it seems that ISL side Jamshedpur FC may just hold on to their South African starlet Sameehg Doutie after earlier reports had suggested that the club were set to release the player.
The winger dropped a major hint about his future at the club on Saturday, with a Twitter post that praised manager Steve Coppell, especially after the relationship between the two had soured.
Doutie tweeted, with a picture of Coppell from his playing days, "My Mentor, I have so much respect for this man & his team, I am beyond grateful working under them & learning so much from them." (sic)
In case you didn't know
The player had earlier sparked a major row when he was left seething after his side's win against the Delhi Dynamos in the national capital, where he was introduced as a late substitute.
After the match, the South African reportedly left his team hotel and checked into another one without informing anybody, thus making his team's players and staff search for him into the wee hours of the night,
The heart of the matter
The player joined the team again and there was a great deal of speculation about him being sacked from the club or being sold once the January window gets underway.
However, with this latest post by Doutie, it appears that fences have been mended between the player and manager, who might just be given one last chance to prove his mettle.
What's next?
It remains to be seen how this situation will play out in the coming days. Sportskeeda tried to contact the team officials regarding the matter but they were unavailable for comment.
Author's take
Doutie is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the league and it will only be good for the team and fans if he does take to the pitch once again for Jamshedpur.
