ISL 2017: Bengaluru FC troll East Bengal for tweet over wrong scoreline
A preseason friendly before the start of the Indian Super League 2017-18 and the I-League 2017-18 saw Bengaluru FC facing East Bengal today at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Though the match ended in a 1-1 draw, what took Twitteratis by a storm this morning was Bengaluru FC trolling East Bengal for their incorrect and impatient tweet right after scoring their first goal.
The East Bengal team, it seems, could not wait to take to Twitter to celebrate their goal and decided to declare themselves the winners of the match. Bengaluru FC left no stone unturned in not letting this mistake stay under the rug and took to Twitter right after full time.
Added to this incorrect scoreline posted by East Bengal was also the mention of the wrong goal scorer's name. The tweet mentioned a goal from Brazilian Charles, however, the actual goal scorer was Surabbudin Mollick who opened the scoreline for East Bengal. Bengaluru FC's Miku was responsible for proving this post wrong when he scored an equaliser to end the match as a draw.
With this hilarious error on the part of East Bengal's Twitter handle, Indian football fans left no stone unturned in turning the match into a rib-tickling news update. Comments based on this mistake have been pouring in and are continuing to do so since morning.
Noticing the lapse on their part, East Bengal returned to Twitter to correct their mistake and replied to Bengaluru FC's tweet.
Despite this match ending in a draw and not being one of the best, folks on Twitter were surely responsible for helping it grab everyone's attention.
