ISL 2017: Delhi Dynamos director Rohan Sharma openly slams team strategy after sixth straight loss
What's the story?
The Delhi Dynamos were defeated by Mumbai City FC on Friday as Lucian Goian, Everton Santos and Balwant Singh netted goals, making the score 4-0 in their side's favour. This turned out to be the sixth defeat of the ISL season for the Delhi Dynamos, keeping them rooted to the bottom of the points table.
Llong with the fans, the result left the Delhi team's director Rohan Sharma frustrated as well as he vented his anger on Twitter. He tweeted:
In case you didn't know
After winning their opening game of the season against FC Pune City, the Dynamos have lost every game they have played in, which makes it their worst performance in the ISL after seven games.
The heart of the matter
The Delhi Dynamos were down 3-0 on Friday when LallianzualaChhangte was called upon in the 65th minute, which made Sharma feel that it was too late to make an impact.
He might be sarcastic about the lack of squad strength this season or signal sheer discontent over the team selection by the coach, which has led to six successive defeats.
Chhangte, the 20-year-old forward, is the second youngest goalscorer for Indian national football team and was named the man of the match in the team's opening win against Pune.
What's next?
Delhi Dynamos face Chennaiyin FC on the first day of 2018. Sharma personally acknowledged on Twitter the need of bolstering the squad, especially with a new goalkeeper as the transfer window opens next month as well.
Author's take
They still have 11 games in hand and winning as many as possible of these has to be the priority for the team. Such tweets from the officials do not look good but one hopes it inspires the unit to put their best foot forward and salvage their stumbling season.
