ISL 2017: Delhi Dynamos' Matias Mirabaje scores a potential goal of the tournament against FC Pune City
The fifth match of ISL 2017 saw a rather thrilling encounter between FC Pune City and Delhi Dynamos FC, at the Balewadi Stadium, in Pune, where the latter came out as 3-2 winners. While all the five goals of the match were scored in the second half, one goal will surely stick to the memory of all the football fans. That goal was scored by Matijas Mirabaje. After a drab first half, which ended 0-0, the Delhi Dynamos threw everything at their opponents. Their efforts came to fruition, Paulinho and Lallianzuala Chhangte scored two goals to put Delhi ahead.
However, there was more to come. Mirabaje came up with an absolute stunner of his own, to put Delhi in a 3-0 lead.
On the 65th minute, Pune had seemingly thwarted yet another Delhi attack, as they cleared the ball from their area, towards the throw line. However, the clearance was weak and did not have much pace on it, allowing Delhi fullback Pritam Kotal to sprint to the ball before it rolled out of play.
While a defender was closing in on Kotal, the right-back looked up, and found Mirabaje in space, at the edge of the Pune penalty area.
On receiving the ball, Mirabaje merely dropped his shoulders, cut inside, jinked past a defender, and unleashed an unstoppable curling left-footer that nestled into the top corner, leaving Pune goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh as a mere spectator.
This undoubtedly has to be one of the best goals we have seen so far, in this five-game-old season. Will this end up being the goal of the tournament? Only time can tell.
