ISL 2017: Jamshedpur FC star Anas Edathodika confirms injury after Kerala Blasters match
What’s The Story?
One of India’s finest defenders, Anas Edathodika, has confirmed that he will be out of action for some time, due to an injury, which he sustained during Jamshedpur FC's second ISL game against Kerala Blasters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Kochi, earlier this week.
Anas tweeted from his account, saying that he will be back soon from his injury. In their last match against Kerala Blasters this Jampshedpur defender faced an injury and had to leave the field in the second half.
Bikash Jairu replaced him against Dimitar Berbatov’s side. As per his tweet, he is likely to miss a few matches in the on-going ISL but made a promise that he will come back stronger. He has also thanked people who stood by his side throughout his career.
The Context:
Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC played out a goalless draw, which means that they are yet to score in the tournament. Kerala dominated the match but Jamshedpur got a few clear chances, which they failed to convert. Anas sustained an injury towards the end of the match, which and was substituted immediately.
The heart of the matter:
In last few years, Anas has stormed his way into Indian football. He is currently one of the best central defenders in India. Jamshedpur FC signed him first to consolidate the defence. Last season, he played for Mohun Bagan in the I-League and put up a stupendous show which earned him a huge salary in Jamshedpur. His side will surely miss his services. Anas has said in his tweet that he has a long way to go and he will put 100% to get back to the field as soon as possible.
What’s Next:
Anas will need to work harder to get back soon. Jamshedpur FC’s coach Steve Coppell will now have to find someone who can replace him and that is a tough ask.
Author’s Take:
Anas is one of the finest defenders India has ever produced. His injury is a serious concern for the team but the way he has written in his twitter wall speaks a volume for the man.
