ISL 2017: Jamshedpur FC troll Bengaluru FC fans and Rahul Dravid after close win at Kanteerava Stadium
What’s the story?
After their 1-0 victory at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium against Bengaluru FC, the side from the Steel City found a rather innovative way of trolling the Blues’ passionate fan-base West Block Blues, and their brand ambassador Rahul Dravid.
In case you didn’t know…
Jamshedpur FC earned a famous victory against Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium, after Trinidade converted a last-minute penalty, to give the Men of Steel their second win of ISL 2017. The match was attended by BFC’s brand ambassador and Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid, who was present in the stands.
Heart of the matter
BFC had announced the former Indian cricket team captain as their brand ambassador, earlier this season, and Dravid returned the favour by gracing this tightly-contested match with his presence. The Blues had actually announced ahead of this game that ‘The Wall’ will be in the stands at the Kanteerava.
Taking this as on cue, the West Block Blues tweeted to JFC questioning how they would breach the ‘fortress’ in the presence of ‘The Wall’.
However, after their win, Jamshedpur FC came back with a gem of a reply.
They took the cue of a famous catch-phrase from an online hotel-booking advertisement, to sarcastically ask the West Block Blues, “Have you ever booked bricks online?”
What’s next?
After two consecutive losses at home, Bengaluru FC will have nine days of rest, before they go up against Kerala Blasters on New Year’s Eve. While they have shown good form earlier this season, the Blues will now look to put those disappointments behind them and prepare to face Kerala Blasters, in what promises to be another cracker of a South Indian Derby.
Author’s take
Such kind of banter is always good for the sport, as everyone seems to have taken it in the right spirit. Jamshedpur FC did play well in the match and have earned the full bragging right after their win.
