ISL 2017: Kerala Blasters' Dimitar Berbatov shows he's still got it with hat-trick against Barcelona legends
Dimitar Berbatov might be 36 now, but he still remains a considerable goal scoring threat. The new Kerala Blasters signing for the 2017-18 Indian Super League season hasn't lost his golden scoring touch yet and expressed it in all its glory yesterday during a legends' match involving some of the greats of the game.
Watch Berbatov killing it with his head as well as his feet in the video below.
The Bulgarian hitman scored three goals in a performance that belied his age, although he was among the youngest players on the pitch during the game. Two well-timed jumps and perfectly placed headers and a tap-in into an open net were how the new Blaster scored his goals, suggesting he is still very much a force to be reckoned with even today.
Bulgarian great Hristo Stoichkov's team took on a Barcelona legends team with Berbatov's hat-trick handing Stoichkov's team a 3-2 win. Interestingly, the legend himself turned out for Barca, whose Dream Team of 1992 he was part of.
Earlier, Berbatov had revealed he will not play as a striker for Kerala Blasters in the ISL next season, believing his aging body would cope well with being a midfielder instead.
The former Manchester United man, however, showed the world how good a striker he still is with his three-goal act yesterday, and that leave the Blasters faithful with a lot to be excited about. The 2017-18 ISL starts on 17th November and Berbatov will be among the star names to watch out for in what will be the biggest edition of India's popular franchise league ever.
