ISL 2017, Match 29: Bengaluru FC vs Jamshedpur FC, Player Ratings
The two new teams ISL 2017, Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC, faced off against each other for the first time. It was one of the highly anticipated ties of the ISL given that Bengaluru had one of the best attacks in the league whereas the Steve Coppel coached side from Jamshedpur had the best defence in the league having just conceded one goal so far.
The first half looked lively where both the sides created openings to go ahead, with Bengaluru FC having the better of the chances to go ahead. The second half though started on a different note as Jamshedpur missed 3 clear chances within a short span to take the lead.
Albert Roca took off his centre-back Juanan, and right-back Khabra in the dying moments of the game to field a more attacking formation, but the Spaniard's plans backfired as Jamshedpur were awarded a penalty in added time as they ran away with a 1-0 win. With this win, Jamshedpur move to 9 points on the table and are level with FC Pune City.
On that note, let's take a look at the player ratings from the game.
Bengaluru FC
Gurpreet Singh (6.5/10): Gurpreet was called into action quite often mostly during the second half and looked more than up to the task to keep Jamshedpur at bay. He also marshalled his defence with a commanding presence and Gurpreet looked solid whenever called into action.
Harmanjot Singh Khabra (6.5/10): Khabra created probably the move of the match when he cut in from the right and play a gem of a pass to Sunil Chhetri with the outside of the foot, a pass which completely cut opened the Jamshedpur defence.
Rahul Bheke (6.5/10): Bheke has probably been the best defender for Bengaluru in this season, and he had been much better than Bengaluru’s foreign defensive pair of John Johnson and Juanan. The only mistake that he made was to put in that last-ditch tackle on Doutie inside the box to give away Jamshedpur a penalty in the dying moments of the match.
Juanan (6/10): Juanan for the time he was on the pitch, he tried to do his job with perfection, but there were situations in the game when Juanan was left wanting as the likes of Belfort, Trindade and Jerry got past him relative ease.
Subhasish Bose (6/10): Subhasish looked lively in attack today, but more often than not left his defence vulnerable on the flanks. Jerry got past him a couple of times, and it seems Subhasis does need to work on his defensive aspects a bit more.
Dimas Delgado (7/10): Dimas had probably one of his best games in the ISL, even though BFC couldn’t perform up to expectations. Dimas worked hard throughout the game and covered a lot of ground, he also drew a lot of fouls from the Jamshedpur players as he moved with a certain guile. His distribution and vision were also top notch.
Erik Paartalu (6/10): Erik couldn’t perform up to expectations. He had to drop a lot deeper into his own half to collect the ball and his distribution too wasn’t up to the mark. He also couldn’t trouble Subrata Pal with his efforts from set pieces.
Edu Garcia (7/10): Edu Garcia has been one of the best performers for BFC this season, and he showed why he is rated so highly. He controlled the midfield for long parts of the game.
Udanta Singh (6/10): Udanta was a shade below his usual self. He did get past Shouvik but his crosses and link up were poor.
Suni Chhetri (6.5/10): He had a couple of good chances but couldn’t convert them. He also tried hard to break up the Jamshedpur defence but wasn’t successful.
Miku (6/10): Even though Miku was awarded the Man of the Match, in truth he wasn’t much convincing compared to the earlier games. Miku though today played a role of the creator rather than the person who converts chances, as he created some fine chances for his teammates to score from.
