ISL 2017, Match 33: Jamshedpur FC v Chennaiyin FC, Player Ratings
Chennaiyin FC extended their lead at the top of the ISL table after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, on Thursday. With this win, Chennaiyin have now taken a four-point lead at the top of the table.
Tha match itself was strewn with controversies after the referee awarded two debatable penalties -- one to each side in the first half. While Jeje Lalpekhlua converted his spot-kick for Chennaiyin, Kervens Belfort's effort was palmed away by keeper Karanjit Singh, essentially earning Chennaiyin the win.
On that note, let's take a look at how the players performed on the night.
Jamshedpur FC
Subrata Paul (8/10): The veteran goalkeeper had a good game apart from the penalty kick from which he conceded the goal.
Andre Bikey (7.5/10): The Cameroonian was subbed off for Doutie in the second half. Bikey's physicality was pivotal in the first half for the home side.
Tiri (8/10): The towering Spaniard came out supreme in almost all the aerial duels. His leadership over the back four was prominent in the entire match.
Shouvik Ghosh (6/10): The left back was pretty average as his clearances were not as good as they should have been. He was cornered away by Nelson on several occasions.
Souvik Chakrabarti (7.5/10): He was troubled by pacy Chennaiyin wingers and could not match up to the Blues.
Mehtab Hossain (5.5/10): The veteran was subbed off at the halftime break after he conceded the penalty which resulted in the goal henceforth making it an off-day for the midfield general.
Memo (5.5/10): Memo took too many bad touches, which allowed the Chennaiyin back four to capitalise on his poor form.
Trindade Goncalves (7/10): The Caribbean was a menace in the Chennaiyin box, but could not garner out a good show due to lack of proper and quality balls to him.
Bikash Jairu (8/10): Jairu delivered some pacy and venomous crosses from the flanks but they were not encroached upon by Belfort and Jerry on the far side.
Jerry (8/10): The youngster was at his best, but came second best in the physical battles in the final third.
Kervens Belfort (5/10): The Caribbean missed the all-important spot kick and had a disappointing night. He showed moments of Individual brilliance but they did not garner the desired result.
SUBSTITUTES
Sameehg Doutie (6/10): The introduction of Doutie added some pace and movement to Jamshedpur's offensive runs, but he could not do his job of getting the equaliser despite showing diligence throughout the twenty minutes on the field.
Farukh Chowdhury (5/10): The youngster replaced Mehtab and was outshone by Mihelic on most of the occasions.
Izu Azuka (5/10): Azuka did not create much of an impact and was pretty average as well.
