ISL 2017, Match 34: Mumbai City FC vs Delhi Dynamos, Player Ratings

Mumbai City FC played host to Delhi Dynamos in what was the last game of the calendar year for both the sides. The two metropolitan teams have so far failed to win the ISL and have featured in the playoffs only once in the three season.

Mumbai have had a good start to the season and are strong contenders to secure a play off spot, whereas Delhi have had a horrendous start to the league as they sit bottom of the table with just 3 points.

The match started on a bright note for the Islanders as they went ahead in the 12th minute when Captain Lucian Goain put the Mumbai side ahead when he converted a penalty that rebounded of the post. From there, on it was all one-sided as Mumbai defeated Delhi 4-0. With this win, Mumbai moved to the second spot of the League table.

Let's take a look at how the players performed in this game.

Arindam Bhattacharya (7/10): Arindam literally had nothing to do in the game as only one proper shot was taken at his goal, while another hit the post.

Lucian Goian (9/10): Goian did everything to perfection. Not only did he score a brilliant goal from a rebound off a penalty, but Goian also did a good job of keeping the Delhi forwards at bay.

Raju Gaikwad (6.5/10): Mumbai had a nearly perfect game, but Raju wasn’t perfect as he looked shaky at certain situations and he let the likes of Nandakumar and Romeo get past him with relative ease.

Gearson Vieira (7/10): Gearson had an average game as he played again in the midfield role as a holding midfielder. He won a lot of balls for Mumbai and covered a lot of ground, but his distribution and covering could have been better.

Sanju Pradhan (6/10): Sanju looked a little out position at right-back during his time on the pitch. He allowed the likes of Nandakumar and Chhangte beat him and cut into the box a couple of times.

Abhinash Ruidas (7.5/10): Abhinash did a good job to keep a tight check on Romeo and forced him to move towards the centre circle more rather than cutting in.

Sehnaj Singh (4.5/10): Sehnaj Singh and suspensions are like cups and plates. One cannot live without the other. Sehnaj returned just after a suspension and again got sent off, with a straight red card after being involved in an on-field brawl with Mirabaje.

Everton Santos (8.5/10): Everton did much more than just provide an assist and score a goal. He was one of the players who kept Delhi under constant pressure and was one of the prime reasons why Mumbai looked so dangerous whenever they had the ball.

Achille Emana (7/10): Emana did miss a penalty, but he was up to his usual standards while setting up attacking moves for Mumbai.

Thiago Santos (8/10): Thiago scored a goal and was a handful for the Delhi defenders. His intelligent runs combined with pace and sublime ball control was more than what Delhi handle.

Balwant Singh (8/10): Hardworking and with an eye for goal, Balwant showcased all the qualities he is known for today. His unpredictable nature was the reason why the Delhi defence kept chasing shadows around him. His poaching abilities also helped him score despite losing his footing in front of goal.
