ISL 2017, Match 4: Bengaluru FC vs Mumbai City FC, Player Ratings
The Indian Super League finally made its inroad into Bengaluru and the fans loved it. Huge banners were on display by the Bengaluru faithful. The Blues faced Mumbai City FC in a tie which had the only two coaches among the 10 ISL teams, who have been with the same team for one year or more.
The game started off in an exciting manner with end-to-end action, but as the half progressed Bengaluru started to control the game.
The second half started in a similar manner, and Bengaluru started to dominate the proceedings and finally broke the deadlock in the second half to ensure a victory via goals from Edu and Chhetri. Let's take a look at the player ratings for today’s game.
Bengaluru FC
Gurpreet (7) - He had very little to do as Mumbai had only one shot on target. And Gurpreet, for most parts of the game, had his hands on his hips. However, he did well whenever called into action.
Rahul Bheke (7) - Playing out of position as a left-back, Rahul settled into his new role with ease and kept the likes of Sanju Pradhan in his pocket.
John Johnson (7.5) - He had a good day in office and was brilliant in keeping the Mumbai attackers at bay.
Juanan (8) - He made a crucial last-ditch tackle to keep Everton from getting a shot away on goal. His partnership with John yielded good results for Bengaluru.
Khabra (6.5) - Khabra had a good game but was beaten a couple of times by Ruidas.
Edu Garcia (8.5) - The Spanish midfielder was absolutely brilliant and scored an amazing goal. Not only did he give BFC the attacking impetus, but he also tracked back well.
Paartalu (6.5) - He had a quiet game, to be honest. He did his job quietly but a lot more is expected of him.
Lenny Rodrigues (7) - Lenny had a good game and kept a check on Mumbai’s midfield with conviction.
Chhetri (9) - Captain cool, was at his usual top-notch level, today. From creating chances to scoring the second goal, Chhetri showed why is still considered the best football player in India.
Udanta (7.5) - Udanta had an assist to his name, he even came close scoring on a couple of occasions, and provided some delicious balls to his strike partners.
Miku (7) - Miku had a good start to his ISL career. One of his shots hit the side-netting, while he missed the others by a narrow margin. However, his overall combination with his teammates was impressive.
