What’s the story?

The football fans of Kochi are desperate for a ticket for today’s match between Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC, but there seem to be tickets are available in the stadium counters.

The whole country knows the love and passion of the Kochi people for football. However, instead of buying their tickets at the booths outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Kochi, they will have to go to the Muthoot Finance office in Kochi. Event the fans who have purchased their tickets online, will have to go to the Muthoot office, in order to redeem them.

The Context

Earlier, a similar problem took place before the opening match against ATK as thousands of fans were waiting outside the stadium for tickets prior to the match day. It forced the local councillor to lodge case to Kerala Human Rights Commission, alleging that ISL organisers are reselling tickets in the black market, and in the process, looting the common fans.

The heart of the matter

The Kerala Blasters fans are generally used to buying the tickets at the counters outside the stadium, and are less likely to go all the way to the Muthoot office, to purchase a pass for the game.

What’s next?

Kerala are one of the title contenders this year and they are famous for their home support. If fans are being neglected, then it is surely not going to help the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned franchise. Fans' comfort should not be compromised.

Author’s take:

It is a great delight to see a sea of yellow in the gallery of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Except for Kolkata, no other city has been able to match their passion for football. All of us should remember that without the fans, neither Kerala Blasters nor ISL can thrive.
