ISL 2017 Points Table: Who leads the ISL standings after the first week?
The fourth edition of the Indian Super League got underway earlier this week on November 17 and after goalless draws in the first two games, the competition sprang into life as the next three matches saw a total of 12 goals scored.
The ISL 2017 opening match was contested between last season's finalists as the Kerala Blasters took on defending champions ATK in Kochi. The match ended with the scoreline reading 0-0 as both sides struggled to get going, especially in the final third.
NorthEast United hosted Jamshedpur FC in the next game, but that too was a goalless affair at 0-0. It saw a number of chances created, especially by the home side, but both keepers were in top form and put on solid displays to deny the opposition forwards. The game also saw the season's first red card as Andre Bikey was sent off for a high boot.
The third match of the week saw FC Goa clinch an away win at Chennayin FC, who were run ragged in the first half. The side from Goa scored three goals in the first half and looked to be running away with the game. However, the home side fought back after the break and scored twice through Inigo Calderon and Raphael Augusto, but it was not enough as the match ended 3-2.
The penultimate game of the week saw Bengaluru FC sparkle on their ISL debut as they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Mumbai City FC. Edu Garcia opened the scoring in the second half for the Blues and Sunil Chhetri added the second deep into second-half stoppage time.
The Delhi Dynamos also picked up a 3-2 win away from home against FC Pune City and after a goalless first half, they raced into a quickfire three-goal lead. Pune struck back with two goals but it was too late as the Lions started off the season on the front foot.
