ISL 2017: Predicted XI for Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC began their ISL campaign on the worst possible note, finishing seventh on the points table in 2014. The next season wasn't any better either, where they ended up in sixth position. But 2016 was a watershed moments of sorts for Mumbai, as they catapulted themselves to the top of the points table but unforgettably went down to Atletico de Kolkata in the semifinals over two legs.
This season, Mumbai lost just once in their seven pre-season matches. They may not have a star-studded squad but Costa Rican coach Alexandre Guimarães is a master tactician and is very much capable of taking Mumbai to the next level. Let's take a look at the men who could possibly start for them.

Formation: 4-5-1
Goalkeeper and defenders
Goalkeeper: Amrinder Singh
The club spent an 8 figure amount for the services of Amrinder Singh. While the decision to retain him wasn't surprising, the fee definitely was. Having made just six appearances for Mumbai last season, it remains to be seen if Amrinder can cement his place. Afterall Mumbai did spend heavily on keeper, Arindam Bhattacharya as well.
CB: Lucian Goian
The veteran center back will once again play a key role for Mumbai City FC this season. Goian will in all likelihood captain the side. The number of leaders in this squad are few and far between and the Romanian has a challenge on his hands.
CB: Gerson Viera
The young Brazilian was a regular starter for Mumbai last season. He looked calm, solid and partnered with Goian effectively. While Gerson is a dependable center back, his tendency to attempt to play the ball from the back has at times cost his team dearly.
LB: Mehrajuddin Wadoo
Having plied his trade for Chennaiyin and I-League outfit Mumbai FC last season, Wadoo is a vital addition to what initially looked like a wafer-thin back line. He's a versatile defender who can play as a center back and as a full-back as well.
RB: Márcio Rosário
Mumbai will be Márcio Rosário's fifteenth club in a career that has spanned over twelve years. The 33-year-old defender primarily operates as a centre back, but coach, Guimaraes is known to regularly play his foreign recruits out of position who seem equally at ease playing in any position along the back line.
