ISL 2017: Robbie Keane tweaks his trademark celebration for ATK fans
Robbie Keane the mercurial Irish striker is the apple of the eye of the ATK management and fans alike. He is the designated captain of the team but missed the initial few matches with an Achilles injury, and only rejoined the side recently.
Keano, as he is fondly called by his mates and family, is one of the biggest players to play in ISL, having scored more than 100 goals in the Premier League. Being a Tottenham Hotspur legend, Keane is one of the stars to look out for this season.
ATK played Delhi Dynamos on Saturd, which was only their second home game this season. The Kolkata side has had the worst start in their ISL history and with Keane back in the squad, coach Teddy Sheringham and Co hoped to get back to winning ways.
The Sanjiv Goenka and Sourav Ganguly co-owned franchise did get their first win of the season, as Keane scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 victory. The best thing though was Robbie Keane, Kolkata’s captain fantastic, turned and beat two Delhi defenders to slot the ball home.
What followed the goal was the trademark Robbie Keane celebration, but with a special twist in the end. Those who have watched Keane play will know that after scoring Keane does a double somersault and ends it with a fist in the air.
Yesterday though, Keane performed his signature move, along with the 'Namaste' gesture with hands folded and head bowed towards the stands. A special greeting for his Indian fans, perhaps?
