ISL 2018-19: Delhi Dynamos part ways with striker Andrija Kaludjerovic

ISL strugglers Delhi Dynamos today announced that they had parted ways with their Serbian striker Andrija Kaludjerovic, having only signed him prior to the start of the season.

The Serb struggled in his time with the capital-based outfit, managing to score only one goal in his 12 appearances for the Dynamos.

He came in with a big reputation as well, having been a prolific goal-scorer for the Wellington Phoenix, and a few other Eastern European clubs.

His most fruitful season came while playing for Lithuanian side Zalgiris in 2016, where he not only won the League and Cup double but was also the top scorer of the league with 20 goals.

It is, therefore, safe to say, that the Dynamos haven't got what they'd bargained for, with the Serb. His only goal came against the Kerala Blasters in Kochi, when his 86th-minute header earned Delhi a point.

The Josep Gombau-coached outfit have been hugely hit by the absence of a prolific striker, being guilty of missing several gilt-edged opportunities through the course of their 12 games.

After one such game, where the Dynamos' profligacy cost them the three points against Bengaluru FC, their outspoken owner Rohan Sharma took to Twitter, as he always does, and lamented that they would be a top 4 side, if they had managed to acquire a striker of the ilk of FC Goa's Ferran Corominas or Bengaluru FC's Miku.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia remains the only recognised senior striker at the Dynamos, with Kaludjerovic's departure. They have the services of young Seiminmang Manchong as well, but he has only had one eight-minute cameo to his credit this season.

The Dynamos have announced that they are on the lookout for a suitable replacement for Kaludjerovic, and intend to make an announcement soon.

The Serb is not the first foreigner to be released by their respective ISL clubs. ATK have let go of Kalu Uche and Emiliano Alfaro due to injury, and also let go of Australian Eli Babalj, to make way for Edu Garcia. There have also been murmurs that Miguel Palanca has been let go of, by FC Goa.
