ISL 2018-19: "Only one team should have won the game and that was us" NorthEast United FC coach Eelco Schattorie

NorthEast United had to stay content with just one point from the game against Bengaluru FC. Bengaluru FC kept their unbeaten streak intact as they grabbed a late equaliser to deny Northeast United full three points.

The game was well balanced, but Northeast United had more of the chances. In the end, both teams will be content with a draw.

The Northeast United FC gaffer Eelco Schattorie felt that there was only one team which deserved to win and that was Northeast United FC. It was due to the way NEUFC played and controlled the game, especially in the first half. Eelco also mentioned that apart from the late equaliser BFC only had one shot on target which was saved by Northeast United FC keeper Pawan Kumar.

"It is hard not to speak about the referees especially when it affects the game like this. I don't like talking about Referees but when such things happen its hard not talking about it" Eelco Schattorie regarding the refereeing decision that impacted the game. He also went on to elaborate some of the situations in which the referee decisions had a direct impact on his team.

"Provat's injury is serious, and I am very concerned about his situation" is what Eelco had to say regarding the right back Provat Lakhra's injury situation. The coach also went onto say that having such a crunch schedule where his team again play a game after two days is a catalyst in getting players injured as a lot of travel is also involved.

The coach also mentioned that dropping two points from such a game was heartbreaking for his side and hopes they can put in good performances in the next two games to secure their position in the top four.

"See Bengaluru is a team with probably one of the highest budgets. I have the lowest budget team in the league. So, in that aspect, I can be happy with a point against probably the best side in the league. But, I am also very sad in the way we dropped two points". Eelco on his feelings after dropping two points from the game.

Carles Cuadrat seemed a happy man after the game and mentioned that "I am pleased with the way the boys played. I had the game planned with my assistant coach, and we knew what to expect from Northeast United, and we played accordingly."

The Spanish gaffer speaking about the game, in general, mentioned that he was happy with a point as none of the teams created that many clear-cut chances.

The BFC coach also mentioned that getting a point from such a tough game especially when the team is suffering from a few injury concerns is very heartening for the team, and it does wonder to lift the morale of the team.
