ISL 2018: Bengaluru FC's Lenny Rodrigues in advance talks with FC Goa
Bengaluru FC's Lenny Rodrigues who had a memorable ISL this season could be on the move once the transfer window opens, with FC Goa showing some interest in the midfielder. He is a crafty player and is capable of creating good opportunities for his teammates, which makes him such an important player.
Lenny is a very experienced player and has been one of the best playmakers since he made his senior debut for Goa-based Churchill Brothers back in 2008. Since then, he has been a mainstay for the club till 2014. Following his stint, he shifted his loyalties towards Dempo, and subsequently played for Pune City FC, Mohun Bagan and then signed for Bengaluru FC in 2016.
The 30-year-old has been in talks with FC Goa, and is likely to close the deal in the near future, it has been learnt by Sportskeeda. Bengaluru FC lost the ISL final by a 2-3 margin to Chennayin FC in a well fought encounter at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, on Saturday.
However, he will be playing for Bengaluru FC in the upcoming Super Cup this season, as the FC Goa deal, if it goes through, will only take place once the transfer market open.
FC Goa, on the other hand, played impressive football this season, but slipped out in the semi-final on aggregate against Chennayin FC in a two-leg fixture. The inclusion of Lenny in the midfield will definitely add an extra flair to the line-up for the Virat Kohli co-owned side.
Although age is not on his side, Lenny Rodrigues can still prove to be a vital factor in any particular game for the side that he plays for. The player from Goa has played 22 matches for the Indian national football team, making his debut against Oman on 23rd February 2012.
